Fear the beard at the Lynnfield PD

The Lynnfield Police Department is once again participating in No Shave November in support of the Home Base organization.

Home Base is dedicated to aiding veterans and their families in healing from invisible wounds such as PTSD and traumatic brain injury.

In an effort to raise awareness, the department, in partnership with the Lynnfield Police Academy, will host an open workout on Sunday, Nov. 13 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Members of the LPD, neighboring police departments and Lynnfield residents are invited to come to the academy (located at the site of the former Boston Sports Club) and participate in a “Murph” Hero workout or simply to check out the new facility and meet their local first responders.

The Murph Challenge began when a former pararescueman decided to honor Lt. Michael Murphy and other fallen soldiers by completing the “Murph” workout every year with his local gym.

Murphy was a Navy SEAL who was killed in 2005 during Operation Red Wings—his story is told in the film and book Lone Survivor. The challenge has grown to include participants across the whole world.

To participate, please email Officer Pisano at gpisano@lynnfieldpolice.net for details.

Participants are encouraged to donate a minimum of $10 to the Lynnfield department’s Home Base Campaign. To donate, go to www.because.massgeneral.org/fundraiser/424747.

Community members can also donate $10 to receive a Lynnfield PD Salute to Service Commemorative patch. Simply email proof of donation to cdecarlo@lynnfieldpolice.net to coordinate picking up or mailing your patch.
