Lynnfield Police Department warns residents of scam calls

The Lynnfield Police Department recently released a statement through Facebook, saying that someone has been using the department’s business line phone number in an attempt to scam and defraud.

Police Chief Nick Secatore referred to a police log report on Wednesday, March 27, which stated that a caller reported that a woman called her at around 11:05 a.m. regarding a warrant for her arrest. She stated that the calling number was the Lynnfield Police Department, but no one from the department had reached out to her in regards to an arrest warrant.

In another police log report on the same day, a caller reported that the Lynnfield Police Department had called her phone at approximately 12:00 p.m. even though there were no reports of the department calling her at the time.

In the Facebook post, the department said that they do not call individuals to notify them of arrest warrants, and that they don’t encourage the purchase of gift cards to clear up said warrants.
