February is Love your Library month

Do you know that February is Love Your Library Month? The Lynnfield Public Library offers a cookie decorating class to children aged four to 10 from 3:15 to 4:45 p.m. Tuesday. The teacher, Mindy Paper, will bring some book-themed cookies for the children to decorate. Participants will each get their own large cookie to paint using edible watercolors to create their own tasty masterpiece. 

Thursday, Feb. 2

Yoga Flow & Sculpt

This class is a 60-minute all-level slow, gentle flow yoga class with music. This class will match breath with movement to bring peace of mind, while simultaneously building core strength and stability. A yoga mat and/or towel and yoga blocks are recommended, along with a water bottle. Register with a valid email address to receive the link to join the class. You will receive an email with login information a half hour before the class begins. The Friends of the Lynnfield Library foll.org generously funded this program. The instructor is Tammy Syrigos Irrera and the session will be from noon to 1 p.m. 

Great Snowy Owl Portraits

The library welcomes children from age 6 and up to come and express their artistic side by making a fun torn-paper portrait of a snowy owl from 3 to 3:45 p.m. in Lynnfield Library Children’s Room.

Origami Heart Bookmarks

The library welcomes children from age five and up to learn how to make an origami heart bookmark from 11 a.m. to noon in Lynnfield Library Children’s Room.

The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. and is open to the public in Green Room. 

Wednesday, Feb. 8

Story Time

Join Ms. Alex and Ms. Joan to sing songs and listen to stories in the library at the Lynnfield Library Children’s Room from 10 to 10:30 a.m. It is recommended for children ages five and under.

50+ Job Seekers Networking Group — Create Your “Career Story” Pitch

The Massachusetts Library Collaborative’s 50+ Job Seekers Group meet on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. via Zoom. If you are unemployed and actively looking, underemployed, seeking a new career direction, re-entering the job market after a long employment gap, or recently retired and looking for your “encore career,” this networking group program is perfect for you. Remember, 85 percent of jobs are found through networking.

Join us in a professional forum for networking with peers in a safe and comfortable environment conducive to developing new relationships, skills, and strategies to help in your career transition. Each meeting features a new topic. Meetings include a presentation and hands-on workshop on topics relevant to career transition, guest speakers, access to hiring managers, small group breakout rooms to network, and 1-on-1 coaching guidance. Participating on a regular basis will give job seekers the many tools and strategies needed for a successful job search.

Each biweekly meeting is facilitated by Deborah Hope, MBA, PCIC, an experienced executive career coach. Hope is a former Fortune 500 executive, investment banker and entrepreneur, who transitioned to executive coaching over 12 years ago. She has coached with Harvard Business School Executive Education programs, the Mass. Conference for Women. and has been trained or certified in a variety of coaching models and assessment tools. Hope has facilitated 50+ job seekers’ networking groups since 2016. 

Read to a Dog

Mitzi, a trained therapy dog, will be visiting the Lynnfield Library hoping to hear some great stories! Children may sign up for a 10-minute session and choose a book or selection from a book to read to her. Mitzi is a patient listener, so reading to her is good practice for readers who are still struggling, as well as pros. A program geared to children from kindergarten to grade four. Space is limited to 6 children. When registering, please select an available time. Time to read to Mitzi is limited, so please arrive early if you need time to pick out a book. We may not be able to accept children who are late for their appointment time. If registration is full, please email lfdyouth@noblenet.org to join the wait list. Mitzi will be at the library from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
