Explore Skull Cliff with the Historical Society

Join the Lynnfield Historical Society for another installment of the “Discover Lynnfield” historic walk and talk program. Explore the history of Lynnfield’s Kallenberg Quarry and learn how a mysterious artist turned the site into Skull Cliff.

Attendees will be led on a moderately challenging one-hour, 1.5-mile historical hiking tour up through the Lynnfield portion of Lynn Woods to the site of the former Kallenberg Quarry — now Skull Cliff. You will hear about one of Lynnfield’s earliest industries as well as the mysterious artist Ichabod who transformed this abandoned quarry into a work of art.

Attendees will also hear the stories of spiritualists who came to Lynn Woods to conduct seances. Among them was a man and his son, both allegedly directed by a pirate’s ghost. They spent their lifetimes searching for a treasure and created Dungeon Rock in the process.

Will we be able to find Robin Rock and recreate a favorite historical photo of old Lynnfield? Or has time and modernity erased that scene from the Lynnfield landscape entirely?

Join us at noon, Saturday Oct. 21, behind Kelly Jeep on Route 1 North, Lynnfield. (Rain date Oct 28.)
