Lynnfield Public Library keeps the summer fun going

While summer might be coming closer to an end, activities at the Lynnfield Public Library continue to encourage town members to keep the summer festivities going.

Supported by the Lynnfield Cultural Council, a local agency backed by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, the library will be hosting two exciting programs this month —  a juggling performance and a ukulele workshop.

For its summer reading finale, the library will host Henry the Juggler on Friday, Aug. 11 from 11 a.m. to noon at the Lynnfield Common. The juggler, Henry Lappen, is known for his zany attempts to defy the laws of gravity. He juggles any number of balls, clubs, rings and even members of the audience, and also balances unusual items on the tip of his nose. All ages are welcome.

On Wednesday, Aug. 16 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Lynnfield Meeting House, David Maloof of MusicPlusComedy.com will conduct a ukulele workshop. Maloof will explain and show ukulele types, history, construction, sizes and tunings, but most of the time will be dedicated to learning various strumming techniques, creating chords, singing and playing along to songs, and trying out different ukuleles. Attendees can use one (or more) of the 25 ukuleles that Maloof brings or bring your own. Songs to learn to play will include pop, rock ’n’ roll, Beatles, country, children’s and more.
