Santa Clause is coming to town

If you’re looking for some good, old-fashioned holiday fun for the family, then head on down to Saturday’s Country Store to the Meeting House on  the Town Common.

The nearly-60 year-old event will include favorites from the past, as well as some exciting new additions.

This year’s store  will feature beautifully decorated fresh wreaths and swags.  The Cheese Man returns with Vermont cheddar cheese.  Ham-and-bean suppers are available to go.  Lynnfield Baking will be offering a selection of baked goods and desserts.  Take a break at Mrs. Claus’ Snacks and Lunch Kitchen.  Pick up your favorite flavor of Singing Marshes jellies and jams.

Once again, the  Village Home and Garden Club will offer beautiful evergreen arrangements to add to your holiday decor.  The Centre Club of the North Shore will be selling lottery tickets..

The store’s most popular activity for children – Santa’s North Shore Fishing Pole is also back, sponsored by Colby Properties.  The DiFillippo family will host an ornament decorating station.  Kids can create a special ornament to take home as a remembrance of this beloved annual tradition after choosing their favorite penny candy, sponsored by the Kilgore family.

The store will open at 9 a.m. At 10 a.m. the Voices of Hope chorus will perform carols upstairs, increasing anticipation for the arrival of Santa Claus from the North Pole by way of a Lynnfield fire truck.  Santa will arrive at approximately 10:45 a.m..

Other offerings  this year include decorative wreaths by Ariel Priestley’s Bee Kind Designs, home décor from All About Machine Embroidery, pottery by Mad Mud Design and beautiful blankets and aprons by Busy Fingers.

The Friends of the Lynnfield Library will be selling a large selection of Christmas-themed books  saved especially for the event from the Friends annual book sale.

Lynnfield for Love, a grassroots organization fostering diversity, inclusivity, and kindness, will be on hand.

The event will be hosted by Historic Lynnfield  Inc., a new non-profit organization led by Nan Hockenberry, a former chair of the Lynnfield Historical Commission and president of the Lynnfield Historical Society,
