Young Audiences of Massachusetts becomes Arts for Learning Massachusetts

Young Audiences of Massachusetts, an organization that supports schools in Lynnfield, Lynn, and Marblehead, is changing its name to Arts for Learning Massachusetts.

According to a press release, the name change “accurately reflects its relationships with young people, communities and partners who design, create, participate, lead, and learn through the arts.”

Young Audiences of Massachusetts, now known as Arts for Learning Massachusetts, was established in 1962 and over the years has positively impacted millions of young people ranging from pre-K to 12th grade.

The organization currently has 135 performing and teaching artists on the Arts for Learning MA roster in which they “engage with large groups, conduct hands-on workshops, or lead skill-building residencies at schools, hospitals, and shelters.”

Executive Director Julie McConchie in a statement, said that the organization has been able to add additional programs while helping youth have “a sense of belonging.”

“Our programming has expanded from offering schools assembly presentations to the additional offering of multi-week artist residencies. Students not only enjoy the work of professional artists, they are encouraged to create their own work,” said McConchie. “The arts are transformational. We are committed to providing youth of all abilities, identities, and backgrounds opportunities for creative expression and the sense of belonging that is inherent in arts learning.”
