Patriot’s Day observance  is Monday, April 17

The City of Peabody will honor its Revolutionary War soldiers who died at the battle in Lexington with a series of observances on Monday, April 17.

Sponsored by the Peabody Historical Society & Museum, the City of Peabody, and the Peabody Veterans Council, here is the schedule for the day:

8:40 a.m. — Danvers Alarm List at Jacobs Lot (access via Lowell Street opposite Edgehill, adjacent to Independence Bike Path). Henry Jacobs was one of the Danvers men who fell on April 19. He is buried in a family cemetery. At that time, Peabody was part of Danvers.

9:30 a.m. — Reconsecration of South Burying Ground (Main Street at Salem line). Special ceremony to recognize restoration work at this historic cemetery. The South Burial Ground contains the graves of four Danvers men who died on April 19: Ebenezer Goldthwaite, George Southwick, Samuel Cook, and Benjamin Daland.

10 a.m. — Ceremony at Lexington Monument (Washington at Sewall Street). Coalition to follow at the Gideon Foster House, 35 Washington St.

 Sewall Street will be closed to traffic from Holten to Washington Street from 10-10:30 a.m.
