Lynnfield Art Guild announces featured watercolor artist Louise Pellegrino

The Lynnfield Art Guild (LAG) is proud to announce that Lynnfield watercolor artist Louise Pellegrino is its featured artist for two months beginning March 1 on LAG’s website www.lynnfieldarts.org

“It all began with my dolls when I was a child. Unsatisfied with their faces, I broke out my crayons and transformed them into something far more likeable. Following high school, I wanted to continue my education at Vesper George, an art school in Boston. But, urged by my parents, I instead studied business, which led to a career as an insurance bond underwriter,” Pellegrino said.

“Never losing the desire to paint, I studied with a local oil painter, Marblehead-based artist Ken Hurwitz,” she added. “Oil proved to be a difficult medium to pursue at home, thanks to the lingering odors of linseed and varnish. In the ’90s, I learned of an amazing artist, Louise Anderson, and began classes in a different medium that would change my life — watercolor! I was hooked. Inspired by local watercolor artist Jane Booras and in my desire to improve my watercolor skills, I began meeting with other artists at Jane’s home each week to paint. I was fortunate also to paint with another highly respected and prolific local artist, Pauline Bacon, who offered classes at the Lynnfield Senior Center.”

When Pauline Bacon was unable to continue teaching, she chose as her successor the talented local artist Bill Deveney, with whom Louise studies weekly. Many of Louise’s paintings are inspired by travels through Italy and Greece with her husband, Paul. An active member of the Lynnfield Art Guild, the artist displays her work in LAG’s art shows and in local exhibits. For further information or to purchase one of her paintings, please contact the artist at Pellx2@aol.com.
