LTE: Alexis Leahy is the right candidate for the Select Board

To the editor:

I am writing to offer my enthusiastic support for Alexis Leahy in her bid for Lynnfield Select Board. As a dedicated member of our community, she has demonstrated a remarkable commitment to serving the town with integrity, empathy, and an unwavering work ethic.

Alexis has a strong track record of servant leadership in both her professional life and here in our community. Critics have been quick to dismiss Alexis’ as a “PTO mom,” which unfortunately is indicative of what we see in the workplace and in town politics as a whole — patriarchal oppression of more-than qualified candidates that would provide a more representative town government.

I believe representation should be a major priority in the upcoming election. It’s undeniable that the current Select Board does not represent the demographics and interests of the town, particularly as it pertains to families with school-aged children. While critics demean Alexis’ accomplishments and seek to discredit her service to the town, I believe her PTO experience coupled with her years on the Finance Committee makes her exactly the right candidate to elect to our Select Board.

In addition, Alexis’ credentials beyond her roles in the town speak for themselves — she’s highly accomplished with an M.S. in public policy from the University of Massachusetts and years in the public sector as a bank examiner and later chief director of bank supervision for the Commonwealth. More recently, she’s served as a manager for the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston.

I know Alexis and her family well, and on a personal front she’s an amazing mother. She’s modeled strong values for her family and Alexis is a tremendous role model for her two daughters, as well as for mine and all the other young women in our town who need to believe that their opinions, accomplishments, and leadership matters.

Alexis Leahy is the right candidate to lead a representative Select Board through the many upcoming challenges that it faces in our town. Please join me on April 9 in supporting change and progress in our community and vote Alexis Leahy for Select Board.

Sincerely,

Jason Davis
