Mayor looks to return unclaimed cash

Mayor Ted Bettencourt has released a list of hundreds of individuals and businesses who may be entitled to abandoned property totaling nearly $90,000 held in the city’s treasury.

“I recommend that all Peabody residents and business owners check the Unclaimed Property list at the city’s website,” Bettencourt said. “I am committed to returning these funds to their rightful owners and we have streamlined the process to make it as simple and convenient as possible.”

By visiting the city’s website,  those appearing on the Unclaimed Property list can obtain information concerning the value of the property being held as well as a claim form.

Each claim form must include a valid signature and valid mailing address in order to be processed. Claim forms must be received by March 1. Claimants should allow eight weeks for checks to be administered.
