ReStore begins free Cabinet Removal Service

The Essex County Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Lawrence is beginning a new service to help keep cabinets out of the landfill. Homeowners throughout Essex County who are updating their kitchens can have ReStore take down their cabinets for free if they then donate them to be resold.

The program has benefits to all involved. Not only will it save the homeowner money by not having to pay for their cabinets to be removed, but they may also be able to take a tax deduction for the donation. Additionally, the contractor will save on disposal fees. The ReStore will find them a new home, extending their useful life, and the proceeds from their sale will directly support Habitat for Humanity building more affordable homes in Essex County.

“It’s such a shame to see perfectly usable things end up in a landfill,” says ReStore Director Jim Kapelson. “Especially because kitchen cabinets are one of the hottest sellers in our store. We know there are people out there looking for very affordable cabinets that are in excellent shape for their own kitchens, vacation homes, rental properties, or even extra garage storage.”
