IPSWICH — The Northeast Massachusetts Youth Orchestras present “An Afternoon of Winter Concerts” on Sunday, Dec. 10 at the Dolan Performing Arts Center, 130 High St., in Ipswich. The 2 p.m. concert features the NMYO Prelude String Ensemble, Overture String Ensemble, and Intermezzo Orchestra. The 4 p.m. concert features NMYO’s advanced ensembles: Wind Ensemble, Select Flute Choir, and Symphony Orchestra. The concerts will include music by Elgar, Mussorgsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Sibelius, and more.
“This free concert ushers in the holiday season and has become a wonderful tradition for concertgoers of all ages,” says NMYO Music Director Gerald Dolan Jr. “We invite the community to join us for this festive event.”

NMYO provides youth musicians with exceptional ensemble training and opportunities for cognitive, social, and personal growth through musical performance and community service. The regular rehearsal and concert schedule is supplemented with master classes, enrichment days, chamber music, and community-service outreach concerts to underserved populations.
