Tree Committee invites the public to celebrate Earth Day

The first Earth Day was celebrated on April 22, 1970 to promote environmental awareness and the preservation of our planet. Today, more than 1 billion people celebrate Earth Day in more than 193 countries around the world. The purpose of Earth Day continues to be environmental protection by bringing awareness to the environmental issues our planet faces and promoting solutions for a sustainable future.

On Saturday, April 22, the Lynnfield Tree Committee invites you to celebrate Earth Day with a local nature walk to explore native trees and hunt for habitats where animals make their homes. At 10 a.m. participants will gather in the vicinity of 62 Bourque Road, where there is parking on both sides of the street and a path through Lynnfield Conservation areas at the rear of the high school fields.

Along the one-hour tree discovery walk, members of the tree committee will highlight the role trees play in our environment, identify trees, explore and measure large trees, and conduct a children’s interactive habitat hunt.

This Tree Discovery Walk is free and appropriate for the whole family.

Please join us and discover what nature has to offer as Lynnfield celebrates the importance of Earth Day. In the event of extremely inclement weather, the walk will take place on Sunday, April 23. Any delay in the event will be announced on the Lynnfield Tree Committee Facebook page.
