Our Library of Things collection continues to grow! If you’ve been to the library recently, you’ve seen our expanded area of puzzles and games near the New Adult Fiction section. Did you know that we’ve also added tons of technology, wellness, travel, and crafting items? Read on for a few highlights from our latest and greatest Library of Things!
Want to learn more or just play with these (and more) fun toys? Join us at our Library of Things Expos on Wednesday, April 19 from 2:30 – 4 p.m. in the Library Children’s Room and Monday, April 24 from 6:30 – 8 p.m. on the Library Mezzanine. Here’s a short sampling of what the Library of Things has to offer:

Come in and join us to make this cute little spring friend. You can use as many gems and beads as you like to make his one-of-a-kind shell! For ages 4 and up – Registration is required.

Paper Plate Umbrella

April showers can be so gloomy. Brighten up your day with a colorful umbrella. Recommended for ages 5 and up – Registration is required.

Adopt a Stuffie

Our stuffies are looking for a new home. We have cat and dog stuffies up for adoption. You’ll pick either a cat or dog then name them and make them a collar out of beads and a pipe cleaner!
Ages 3 and up – Registration is required. A child may register for one session only.

If you are unemployed and actively looking, underemployed, seeking a new career direction, re-entering the job market after a long employment gap, or recently retired and looking for your “encore career,” the Massachusetts Library Collaborative’s 50+ Job Seekers Group program is perfect for you. Join us in a professional forum for networking with peers in a safe and comfortable environment conducive to developing new relationships, and developing skills and strategies to help in your career transition. Each biweekly meeting is facilitated by Deborah Hope, MBA, PCIC, an experienced executive career coach.

From Burlesque to Broadway: with Bill Sano
10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Lynnfield Meeting House
This presentation will offer a brief history of how American musical theater was developed. From Viennese operetta through Gilbert and Sullivan, to burlesque and vaudeville, Ziegfeld Follies up to 20th century American musical theater, music historian Biill Sano will offer an in-depth look at how 42nd Street got this way. The program consists of four two-hour lectures by Sano every Thursday morning in April.

If you are a fan of classic literature and love a pint o’ Guinness while you’re reading, join us for this conversation with author and professor at Trinity College Christopher Morash as he discusses his book “Dublin: A Writer’s City,” which unfolds a book-lover’s map of this unique city, inviting us to experience what it means to live in a great city of literature. Presented in conjunction with the Ashland Public Library. Registration is required.
