We Are America performs Sunday concert

PEABODY – The next concert in the summer series is this Sunday from 6-8 p.m. and will feature the “We Are America Performers.”

The group is the elite singers of We Are America, Inc., many of whom are past Tanner City Idol winners. Each member was selected from among the best contestants from past shows. The local entertainers have performed together at venues throughout the area, including a special show for Gov. Deval Patrick at the Grand Staircase at the State House.

Board hears testimony on discrimination complaint

PEABODY – Both sides in a discrimination complaint made their cases again Monday night before city licensing officials over whether members of a transgender club were denied entrance to Capone’s Italian American Restaurant one night because of their physical appearance as women.

The accounts of the incident remain largely the same, albeit both sides tell slightly different versions.

PEABODY – The next installment of the 18th annual summer concert series features the Brian Maes Band this Sunday at the Leather City Common. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and picnics, sit down, relax and enjoy.

SPECIAL REPORT: Car that struck trooper was Mitsubishi make

PEABODY – State police forensic specialists have determined that the car that struck Trooper Sean McGarry on Route 128 South during a traffic stop on July 4 was a Mitsubishi Galant.

The passenger side mirror broke off when the car struck McGarry’s leg as he tried to jump out of the way. Police recovered the piece and identified it as belonging to a Mitsubishi Galant after completing their analysis. The suspect vehicle is either white or gray and was built within the last few years.

This was supposed to be the summer they said. The summer that Peabody West Little Leaguers finally packed up their bats and gloves and watched the Section 4 state tournament from the outside of the chain link fence at Harry Ball Field, not from the inside.
